Walking for excercise and pleasure

Morning WalkImage by chooyutshing via Flickr

  • Walking is the easiest and most popular form of exercise.
  • Walking has been widely practised as a recreational and fitness activity since ancient times.
  • Walking is the slower and surest way to fitness.
  • People walk for many reasons: for pleasure, to rid themselves of tensions, to find solitude, or to go from one place to another.
  • Everyone who walk regularly does so on the view that it is a good excercise.
  • Walking is an easy way improving physical fitness when done briskly on a regular schedule, it improves the body's ability to absorb more oxygen during exertion, reduces blood pressure, increases the efficiency of the heart and lungs and helps to burn excess calories.
  • Walking offers protection against obesity and high blood pressure, the leading rish factors for heart attack and stroke.
  • Brisk walking one mile in 15 minutes burns just about the same number of calories as jogging an equal distance in 8 1/2 minutes.
  • Although increasing walking speed does not burn significantly more calories per mile, a more vigorous walking pace will produce more dramatic conditioning effects.
  • Walking appears to have a substantial psychological payoff. Beginning walkers almost invariably report that they feel better and sleep better, and that their mental outlook improves.
  • Walking also can exert a favorable influence on personal habits. For example, smokers who begin walking often cut down or quit. There are two reasons for this. One, it is difficult to exercise vigorously if you smoke, and two, better physical condition encourages a desire to improve other aspects of one's life.
  • Walking has several uniquc advantages. Everyone can do it. No lessons or training required. The only thing one need to do is to slowly increase the pace and the distance and walk very often. It can be done any where and at any time. It can be done even alone. It can be done in all seasons and climates. It involves no cost.
  • With so many advantages attributed to walking why should not enjoy walking regularly and pave a way to good health.

How to download youtube videos?

  • Many of us who watch videos and hear songs on the yortube like to share it with our friends or watch it again later. It is not necessary to come again to the youtube site to watch the video or to hear the song that we liked the most once we have downloaded the same. Let us see how to download?
  • Most versions of the RealPlayer software allows download of the youtube videos direct from the page itself.
  • When we move the mouse within the frame a small popup says "download this video." Clicking on this saves the video in our realplayer library. An upgraded version of RealPlay also allows to burn youtube videos into DVD.
  • If we don't have any software, then what? The sites like keepvid.com or savevid.com come to our help.
  • First download the software provided by these sites. Once this is done just place the URL of the video to be downloaded and click "DOWNLOAD."
  • Now choose the option Flash video (flv) or MP4. If we choose the flv the downloaded video format need to be converted into another formatwatchable on Quick Time Player or Windows Medis Player.
  • When we run a web search for flv converter we would comeout with many acceptable programs. We can simply use the software to open the flv and convert it into popular formats like AVI, MPEG and WMV.

Whether Darwin's theory of evolution is in agreement with vedic science?

Some days back the news paper headlines reported the birth day celebrations of Darwin, a famous scientist Darwin who brought out "The theory of evolution by natural selection." During his life time Darwin had to face a adverse reactions of the society as his findings were found against the Bible. But after his demise, the people of his home towm have shown keen interest in celebrating his birth day. This made me think as to whether Darwin's theory evolution by natural selection was really against religion. Is his theory in agreement with vedic science?

Darwin's view:

  • Presumes that all species have emerged from a common ancestor and thereby life has developed.
  • Complex creatures developed from simple ancestors with the passage of time.
  • The species have no right to choose the form of their choice and it occurs by random natural selection.
  • Because of genetic mutations entirely different organisms come into existence over a period of time.
  • The species would inherit certain characteristica from their ancestors and pass some of them to their next generation. Both these processes occur by random by natural selection without any control or choice on the part of the species.
Vedic view:
  • All species have come into existence from the first living body created by "Brahma" the gos of creature according to the vedas under the Hindu mythology.
  • Every life takes the form of a specificbody depending upon its karma in the previous janma ie depending upon the good and evils done in the previous births.
  • Man is the most comples species created by Lord Brahma.
  • The jeevatma (life) acquires the characteristics of the body thar it has worn depending on its karma.
  • The species coes not have any choice in the selection of the body and the characteristics ad it is decided by the creator on the basis of its karma.
Conclusion:
  • Darwin's view that all species have originated from a common ancestor is in agreement with the vedic view that life has come into existence from the first creature of Lord Brahma.
  • Darwin's view that the species has no choose the form and characteristics of its choice where as it occurs hy random natural selection is also very much in agreement with the vedic view that the jeevan (life) has no choice to select the body it has to wear as it is decided in accordance with its karma.
  • I am of the opinion that Darwin's theory of evolution may differ in its expression with the vedas but in principle it is very much agreement with the vedic view. In such a scenario I fail to understand as to why his theory was opposed as being against religion.

Can a blind man see with a bionic eye?

  • A 73 year old person has regained his eye sight and is able to see through a bionic eye fitted in a rare surgical event conducted by British doctors.
  • The doctors at the Moorfields eye hospital in London led by Lyndon da cruz had conducted the surgery 7 months back on Ron wbo lost his vision 30 years ago.
  • The bionic eye known as Argus II developed by US company "second sight" uses a camera and video processor mounted on sun glasses to send captured images wirelessly to a tiny receiver on the outside of the eye. In turn, the receiver passes on the data via a tiny cable to an array of electrodes which are fitted on the retina - the layer specialized cells that respond to light at the back of the eye. When these electrodes are stimulated they send messages through the optic nerve to the brain.
  • According to the doctors the implants have been stable with consistant visual perceptions generated by the device.
  • This surgery is a very good step forward in treating patients with total vision loss due to retinitis pigmentosa.
  • This wonderful discovery of science has really brought a hope for the visually impaired to see this beautifull world again. Source: BBC News

Don't yor wish to lead a successfull and a healthy married life?

Now a days the family courts are flooded with divorce cases. Why is there an increase in the number of the divorce divorce cases in the recent times? Is there anything wrong in the present system of marriage or with the society? Is this a healthy trend for the future? What is the solution for this evil?
According to me, the marriages fail due to:
1. The presense of superiority complex between the couples;
2. Disrespect to the views and feelings of one another;
3. Loss of trust between the couples;
4. Jealousy on the career growth of the other;
5. Excessive possessiveness;
6. Over expectations from each other;
7. Absense of feeling of oneness and sacrificing tendency between the couples;
8. Abesnse of the sharing of ill feelings about each other.
Now the question is how to find a solution to the above problems and lead a healthy married life. The Vedas, under the Hindu Mythology has very good solution for this problems as listed below;
1. Bring a feeling in the mind that one had entered into martial life to serve the almighty and the society;
2. Practice to forget the I, my and the myself in the mind;
3. Pracice to bestow love and effection on the other partner;
4. Give respect to the views and feelings of each other;
5. Control anger and avoid the tendency to argue;
6. Forgive the mistakes of each other;
7. Develop the tendency to sacrifice for others.
U am sure that if the couples follow the art of living specified in the vedic science no marriages will break Further, if the people follow this vedic advice it shall be a place of happuness and no doubt thie beautiful world would be a heaven in itself.
Further Am sure that th couples who had broken their marraige will surely not be healthy as the absence of mental peace would lead them to diseases like high blood pressure, diabetes, cardiac arrest etc.
When the vedic science of the hindu myhtology provides us "Art Of Living" why not avail the benefits of the same and lead a happy and healthy life....... Add to Mixx!

Why does hair become grey?

Everybody likes to have blach hair. But my grandfather's hair is totally grey. Why is it so? May be because of some chemical reactions that had occured in his body might have resulted in the bleaching of his hair. What reaction could that be?
Accoding to Deumatology research, the shortage of an enzyme called catalase in the body results in bleaching of hair. The shortfall of catalace results in accumulation of hydrogen peroxide which is naturally present in the human hair. This accumulation of which cannot be broken down into hydrogen due to the shortfall of catalase results in hair bleach.
It is not impossible that I may see my grandfather again with beautiful abundant blach hair as I beleive firmly that the dermatologists will come out woth a solution to correct the shortfall of catalase in the human body. Add to Mixx!
